Maloja, a small village on the south western end of Lake Sils and the end of the ramp leading up to the Engadin from Ticino. The image shows the pass summit, with a view to Maloja.

We are standing directly on rock of the pass summit and look back to Maloja and the Engadin with its many lakes.

We are on the so-called pass summit in the parking lot in front of the hotel. View in direction of the Bernina group, with its numerous three thousand meter peaks.
View rotated clockwise by 60° compared to the picture above. View down into the valley to the pass road that winds uphill like a tapeworm.

Same location as the picture before, with view to the southwest. Down in the valley you can still recognize the pass road.

From Chiavenna the pass road is rising in gentle curves based on a good conditioned road and then ends up at the last miles in a wild serpentine fireworks.

The whole serpentine construction shot with a tele lens from the observation deck on the pass summit.

And then again in the middle of the pass in August 2010 with absolutely fantastic weather. We are here 2 curves below the summit and overlook the "tapeworm" of the road.

Half way to the Swiss border you will cross by this mighty dam with the Lagh da l'Albigna which had in a James Bond film a very important action role.

Same location as the previous image, the dam can still be seen in the left corner of the picture. This time, with a view into the valley towards Chiavenna.

The end of the Maloja Pass road at the roundabout in Chiavenna. On the right hand side leaving the roundabout you can ride towards the Spluegenpass, left on to Lake Como. Time for an Italian icecream at the ice cafe directly on the right corner.
