If you ride up the pass from the village Predazzo through the Val di Fiemme valley on the pass road that gains access to Passo di Rolle and Passo di Valles, you will automatically pass by that location on your right hand side. This is the storage lake Lago di Paneveggio where this picture was taken looking south. The pass road continues left from us uphill.

That’s the junction to Passo di Valles. The photographer has taken this picture standing on the road of the Passo Rolle. In the rear of the photographer the road continues uphill to the summit of the Passo di Rolle and we look back direction Predazzo. The road that exits here to the right leads through the national park with the sounding name Parco Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino uphill to the summit of the Passo di Valles. When you take that road you will find approx. 4mls of fantastic road and landscape with enough picnic locations in the wood beside a mountain river.

On this picture we are about 2mls further up the road and look back from where we came. On the left side of the picture (not seen) is the Passo di Rolle in about 4mls direct line. In the rear of the photographer is the summit of the Passo Valles.

Summit of the Passo Valles in September 2001. Overnight we have had rain down in the valley which turned out in snow up here. Two days later the snow was gone and the temperature, which at that day was about freezing point went up back to 18°C.
