Shortly after leaving the village of Wassen, the road swings beneath the Gotthard railway and wins altitude the first sweeping tunnel. This picture was taken in front of the tunnel facing the tunnel exit in the curve where the road disappears over a bridge in the next tunnel.

Here we are at the pass summit. View towards the summit tunnel, which connects to the Meiental valley and replaces the old pass road over the mountain. It's a weekend in August and bustle, although here in 2005, a terrible storm had washed away the Grimsel Pass road behind Innertkirchen and all motorbikers had to drive back to Wassen.

At the rear at the green edge of the valley, you can see the pass road coming from the right from Wassen along the valleys wall. It then disappears briefly to show up again after a bend to the left in front of us. Here we are about three serpentines before we reach the pass summit tunnel, on the east side, facing north.

This is the pass summit. In the background there is the exit of the Tunnel. In the upper right corner you still can see parts from the ancient pass road. Since this was always at risk of falling rocks, it was replaced by the summit tunnel. We are here on the west side, facing east.

One serpentine further down in the direction to Innertkirchen, opens up the view towards the Stone Glacier, framed by the Susten Horn Mountain and Giglistock.

Same location, 90 degrees turned to the right. One can very well see the course of the pass road in Gadmertal valley. In the background, far below you will then hit the village Innertkirchen.
